Series of Work

Paintings that belong together.

Each series is a sustained conversation with a single subject — a season, a species, a place. Collected here are the works that grew from that attention.

Dialogues with Imperfection

Pen on paper

There is a moment in every drawing when the ink does something you did not ask it to. It bleeds where it should not, pools where the paper dips, spreads into a shape that belongs to no plan. This series began in that moment — not in spite of it, but because of it.

Each piece is a conversation between control and surrender: the fine, deliberate line of a pen tracing a flower or a leaf, and the dark, ungovernable spread of an ink blot that refuses to be contained. The imperfection is not a mistake. It is the other voice in the dialogue.

A Symphony in Botanica

Natural dye, rock pigments, coffee wash and ink on canvas

Together, Scarlet Twirl, The Jade Waltz, and Azure Sway form a three-part choreography of life itself. Scarlet Twirl is the awakening — the pulse of passion, desire, conflict, and becoming. The Jade Waltz is the flourishing — the joyful exploration of possibility, growth, and discovery. Azure Sway is the understanding — the reflective journey forward, towards wisdom, acceptance, and purpose.

Created entirely with natural dyes, rock pigments, coffee washes, and pen work on canvas, the triptych embodies a dialogue between nature and human experience. Each movement draws upon colours sourced from the earth itself, allowing the materials to echo the themes they represent. Together, they invite the viewer to witness life not as a straight line, but as a dance — one of passion, wonder, reflection, and perpetuum mobile: a constant striving towards the unknown.

Flora Imaginaire

Natural dye with ink on canvas

Flora Imaginaire is a world that does not exist in any field guide or botanical atlas — and yet it feels entirely, viscerally alive. These are flowers that have never grown in any garden, leaves that follow no known taxonomy, forms that seem to breathe and pulse and reach. They are born not from observation, but from imagination: from the question of what a plant might become if it were freed from the constraints of biology and allowed to follow only the logic of feeling.

Each canvas in this series is built from the earth itself — natural dyes that carry the memory of the materials they came from, layered with ink linework of extraordinary density and precision. The dye moves in pools and washes, warm amber and deep crimson and cool ochre, while the pen traces over and through it: feathered strokes, braided lines, stippled fields of dots that give the forms a texture almost tactile. The result is a surface that rewards closeness — the more you look, the more you find.

Flora Imaginaire asks what it means to know a living thing — not through classification, but through attention. These works are an act of sustained looking turned inward, a botany of the interior world.

Nature's Watchful Eyes

Ink on cold pressed handmade paper

There is an old idea, found across cultures and centuries, that the natural world sees us as clearly as we see it — that the forest has eyes, that the stone remembers, that the flower opens not only toward the sun but toward the one who stands before it. Nature's Watchful Eyes begins there: in the belief that awareness is not a human invention, but something woven into the living world itself.

Each work in this series places a single, fully rendered eye at the centre of a natural form — a bloom, a leaf, a cross-section of ancient rock. The eye is not a metaphor. It is a presence. Rendered in ink on cold-pressed handmade paper, every piece is built from two distinct mark-making languages working in concert: dense, directional hatching that gives the organic forms their weight and texture, and a field of fine stippled dots that radiates outward from the central form like a slow pulse, like breath, like the quiet hum of something aware.

The Bloom of Awareness nestles its eye within the layered petals of a flower — soft and open, curious rather than guarded. The Heart of the Woods wraps its gaze in flame-shaped leaves that surge upward like a forest canopy seen from below, the eye at the centre ancient and still. The Witness in the Stone sets the eye within concentric rings of worn rock, patient and geological, a gaze that has outlasted everything around it. Together, the three works ask a single question: what does it feel like to be seen by the world you thought you were only looking at?

Srijan

Mixed media — thread with pen on canvas

Srijan — the Sanskrit word for creation — is a meditation on nature's most fundamental act: the impulse to make. Not the grand, dramatic creation of mountains and oceans, but the quiet, insistent creativity that pulses through every living thing. The seed that splits stone. The root that finds water in darkness. The cell that divides and divides again, building complexity from nothing but time and will.

Each work in this series is itself an act of creation in two registers at once. The pen moves across the canvas in dense, meditative mark-making — fields of stippled dots, spiralling lines, concentric rings that echo the cross-sections of trees and the growth patterns of shells. Over and through this ink world, thread is worked by hand: French knots and satin stitches that rise from the surface in texture you can feel, colour that catches the light differently at every angle. The result is neither drawing nor embroidery but something that belongs to both — and to neither.

Srijan asks us to look at creation not as an event but as a condition — the permanent, restless state of a world that cannot stop making itself. In these small, intimate canvases, that force is made visible: in the burst of a seed, the geometry of a cell, the spiral of a galaxy seen in a single flower's heart.
